The IMEA is seeking an early extension of their contract with the City of Naperville, and we want to show the City Council that we are not alone in wanting to seek alternative options.
Please join us at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 21, at 7:00pm at the Naperville Municipal Center to show your support for Say No To Coal.
Thank you for posting this. Naperville needs to be informed. I’ll be at City Council to support Say No To Coal on January 21st.
Naperville’s energy portfolio is extremely overweighted in coal resources. Non-diverfified portfolios are risky, whether they are energy or financial – diversification reduces risk and improves benefit streams. Coal is the worst polluter. By 2031, Illinois will be down to two coal-fired electricity plants, and one of them will power 80% of Naperville’s electricity. Shameful. We signed a bad deal for electricity in 2007 that will last us another ten years. Extending this contract TEN YEARS BEFORE OUR CURRENT CONTRACT EXPIRES makes no sense. Signing away our alternatives for 30 years is a terrible business decision.
SAY NO TO AN EARLY EXTENSION OF OUR COAL CONTRACT WITH IMEA!
